Ladies, be heart smart
Women’s Heart Health Events Planned
Rockcastle Regional Hospital is sponsoring events for women in recognition of American Heart Month and heart disease – the No. 1 killer of women in the United States.
The 5th annual Women’s Heart Health Expo called “Love Your Heart” is an event aimed to educate women on the dangers of heart disease. The free event will feature a heart healthy meal, education and fun.
In an effort to reach more women in Rockcastle County, two events will be sponsored this year. All women are invited to attend the event on Wednesday, February 15 at 11:30 a.m. OR the event on Thursday, February 23 at 5:30 p.m. Both events will take place in the Wellness Center at Rockcastle Regional Hospital, located on the third floor of the Outpatient Services Center.
Attendees must register by February 10 (for the lunch event on Feb. 15) or by February 17 (for the dinner event on Feb. 23) by calling Arielle Reese at 256-7880 or email a.reese@rhrcc.org.
Women will also have the opportunity to participate in health screenings and visit educational booths. Keynote speakers will include a panel of experts with Tammy Brock, RN; Emily Valentine, PT, and Lindsay Gabbard, RD. Patti Halcomb, RN, will present on recognizing the signs of a heart attack in women. Entertainment will be provided during the meal. There will be door prizes and gifts for those women in attendance.
Event coordinator and Community Relations Director Arielle Reese says this event provides a unique opportunity for women to focus on critical areas of their health. “Women often forget about taking care themselves, while their attention is focused on taking care of the family,” said Reese. “We invite all women to join us and recognize American Heart Month.”
To sign up for one of the events, contact Reese at 256-7880.
