The Speech Pathology Department at Rockcastle Regional provides services for individuals across the life span with speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders.
The department provides a full range of services under ASHA certified speech pathologists including evaluation and diagnosing, as well as treatment and education. Services are provided through acute care, the respiratory care unit, and in the outpatient clinic.
The Speech Pathology Department is dedicated to providing quality services with a focus on establishing or restoring communication, cognition, feeding and swallowing. Staff obtains ongoing education to ascertain that treatment is supported by scientific evidence. Our facility supports a multidisciplinary approach in all settings.
Services include assessment and treatment for:
- Speech production and comprehension
- Voice disorders
- Swallowing and/or feeding disorders (includes modified barium swallow)
- Delayed speech and language
- Apraxia and/or dysarthria
- Augmentative communication system (training)
Referrals to the speech-language pathology program may be made by parents, spouses, affected individuals, nursing staff and/or physicians; however, a written physicianâs order must be attained for the evaluation and treatment process to begin.
