The Southern Kentucky Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is committed to improving the health and healthcare of our communities through education. Vernon, Kentucky, we serve a 15-county region in the heart of southern Kentucky.
We are seeking a Health Career Coordinator to work with students from middle school through post-secondary education. This full-time (40 hours/week) position will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to inspire and support students from various educational levels to pursue careers in health professions. The coordinator will work with middle school, high school, and post-secondary students, collaborating with teachers, administrators, faculty, and health professions education personnel to create impactful educational experiences.
The Health Career Coordinator will play a key role in the establishment of educational partnerships, identifying promising students, and organizing academic enrichment activities to prepare students for successful entry and completion of health professional training programs. This position will focus on expanding health career awareness and access for students across our 15-county service region.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline, education, or related field and at least 2 years of experience working with diverse student populations, with a background in teaching, recruitment, or healthcare.
Applicants must have the ability to perform both on a team and independently. Strong communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills are essential for this position. Must be able to foster partnerships with educational institutions, healthcare organizations and community groups, with a strong attention to detail, and flexibility and willingness to travel within the 15-county service region for events and outreach (nights and weekends as needed).
