The York House celebrates a decade of care and learning
The Rockcastle Hospital Child Development Center, also known as our York House, opened a decade ago and we are still celebrating our children’s love of learning.
Now, with more than 60 families sharing their children with us, our enrollment has grown along with our space in our new state-of-the-art facility, which we moved into in 2017.
Tiffany Anglin, RN, says that having onsite childcare makes her job balancing a career and motherhood much easier. “My children have been coming to the York House since they were infants and when I came back to work from maternity leave, having the peace of mind that they were in the same building and I was only a few steps away, made that transition so much easier for me.”
Child Development Center director Twila Burdette says families rely on the York House for the many conveniences it offers. From the onsite flu shot clinics, to flexible scheduling for drop-in care, to after school and summer programs, the Center has been a constant source of support to employees raising their families.
“Since we opened in 2007, our focus has remained the same,” said Child Development Center director Twila Burdette. “We have designed both our space and our curriculum to creatively encourage and develop a child’s full potential through skilled, knowledgeable, and caring professionals in a healthy and safe environment. Being able to provide a benefit to employees and their families for the last decade is a truly rewarding experience.”
In December, this milestone was celebrated with a reception where both past and present York House kids and their families attended. Covering the hallway walls were pictures from years past were visitors could see not only the growth of our precious kids, but also the growth of our center.
“The location may have changed, but our safe and creative learning environment remains,” said Burdette. “We called it ‘wondertime’ when we opened 10 years ago, the smiling eyes of our York House kids tattle that it’s still wonderful indeed!”
