Excitement Builds for Rockcastle Relay in Countywide Stride

As the summer heat reaches its peak, runners and walkers in Rockcastle County and beyond are gearing up for the next race in the Countywide Stride Run/Walk Series: The Rockcastle Relay. Scheduled for Saturday, August 17 at 8:00 a.m., this race promises to be a fun-filled experience for participants of all ages and fitness levels.

Race Details

The Rockcastle Relay will take place at the Rockcastle County Industrial Park on Progress Drive, offering a smooth, flat, and fast 1.5-mile course. Participants will compete in teams, with each member running or walking 1.5 miles before handing off the baton to their teammate, who will then do the same.

For those who are more competitive, we’ll award the top three winning teams in three categories in this chip-timed event: age 15 and under, age 50 and over, and open division (anyone, any age).

Those interested in participating can register online through the Countywide Stride page on Rockcastle Regional’s website by going to www.rockcastleregional.org/county-wide-stride. Register by Monday, August 12 to secure discount pricing and a Countywide Stride running belt (giveaway not guaranteed for free Kids Club participants).

Don’t have a partner? Don’t worry, sign up anyway, and we’ll match you with one.

So mark your calendars and lace up your shoes – the Rockcastle Relay is set to be a highlight of the summer, and you won’t want to miss it! Whether you’re a seasoned runner or a casual walker, this relay race offers you and a friend a fantastic opportunity to stay active, have fun, and be part of the Countywide Stride community!

Kids Club

The Rockcastle Relay will also be a chance for any Kids Club participants to earn another band and sticker in their Countywide Stride passport. New in 2024, the Countywide Stride Kids Club is a way for younger runners, those 12 and under, to run free for each race in the series. At the end of the year, Kids Clubbers who have completed seven or more races will earn a commemorative t-shirt.

Looking for a Glow-up?

Right up after the Rockcastle Relay, the Countywide Stride team has more excitement in store: the ever-popular Glow Go Fun Run. This unique nighttime event will take place on Friday, September 13 at 9:00 p.m., also at the Industrial Park. The Glow Go Fun Run features a festive atmosphere with participants decked out in glow-in-the-dark attire, making for an eye-catching and unforgettable experience.
